5. CHANGING FIRMWARE
Karaoke (CD+G) Support
The QD-123 duplicator can copy CD+G master discs, with the correct firmware installed.
The system ships in “Standard” mode, and needs to be switched to “CD+G” mode. In
“Standard” mode, the LED’s on the front panel are green. In “CD+G” mode, the LED’s
are orange.
The QD-123 duplicator ships with version 3.03 firmware installed. This firmware
supports copying discs at 16x speed. If you wish to copy CD+G discs, you will need to
change modes. Once changed, the QD-123 system will copy your CD+G masters at 8x
speed. This firmware will also copy all other formats as well, however the record speed
for CD-DA audio masters will be 8x speed. To copy CD-DA audio discs at 16x speed,
you will need to changes modes back to “Standard”.
To change modes in the QD-123 duplicator:
1) Hold down the TEST button and turn on power to the system.
2) You will hear three tones "Mi Re Do".
3) Release the TEST button.
4) The system will then beep once, and you will hear three tones, “Do La
Do”.
5) The LED’s on the front panel will now be orange. This means you are in
“CD+G” mode.
6) You can now copy the CD+G master discs.
Please note, in this mode, you can copy your CD+G masters. To copy all other master
discs, you should switch back to Standard Mode.
To switch back to “Standard” mode, repeat the procedure. When you hold down the
TEST button, you will hear “Do Re Mi” instead of “Mi Re Do”. After the system boots
up, the LED’s on the front panel will be green.
